Brian Stenson

Brian joined dk Engineering in 2015 and received his FAA Remote Pilot License. As a drone or sUAV (small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) operator, his experience includes flights at residential, commercial, and wind farm project locations. After establishing ground control points, Brian programs grid flight patterns to fly autonomously. Use of the drone allows him to collect data to create ortho and 3D maps, as well as to take aerial video and photography.

In addition, Brian is a Survey Chainman, working towards Chief of Party. As a member of the field survey crew, he runs equipment, maps projects including utilities, and sets control stakes for construction. Brian has surveying in his blood as his father is currently a party chief with dk.

Brian’s loves being outdoors when he’s not working. He enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking, wood working, and taking his energetic dog, Luna, on hikes.

Having worked for dk years for 19 years, one of the greatest benefits that I never expected is its family atmosphere. Equally important to me is the quality of the work and experiences within the company. I have been lucky to be involved on some very large and very remote job sites, which can be challenging and rewarding when we overcome logistical issues. When I tell people that I fly a drone as part of my job, folks are often very interested, especially young kids. It’s very cool to know we are part of a cutting-edge team.
