Bayside in Hercules is a community based upon new-urbanism planning and design, utilizing various types of residential products, including live-work type units. Conveniently located near the Hercules Historic Town Center and with easy access to Interstate 80, the communities of Bayside offer homeowners the unique ability to live in a neo-traditional community of 335 single-family residences in proximity to business and industry.
The Bayside aesthetic combines Victorian styling with an Eastern Seaboard flavor. This textural blend creates an attractive streetscape, and this formative architecture appears throughout the community. Live-work product concepts are increasing in popularity in many marketplaces. The homes have rear-loaded alleys reminiscent of the old factory town of Hercules.
dk Engineering was involved with the initial planning and subsequent design and staking, including coordinating the reconstruction of Refugio Creek from a straight man-made canal to a natural free-flowing creek. The designs needed to relocate several pre-existing utilities that traversed the site, as well as preserve 31 acres of natural wetlands.
